Below are a few links that you may find useful for Scuba diving in New England, or in other places in the world. This is something of a work in progress, so the ordering may not be entirely logical until we get it all worked out. The plan is for us to have links to sites that provide useful information on dive sites in New England, information on diving, boating, and underwater hunting as it pertains to New England Diving, and miscellaneous links that we think are interesting or useful for Diving in New England.
Connecticut Scuba Diving Links
Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection The Connecticut DEP website contains general information on the natural resources and the management of natural resources for the State of Connecticut. Information that people who scuba dive may find useful include: hunting seasons for various marine creatures; applications for licenses for fishing and lobstering; and information on the health and status of bodies of water in Connecticut.
Scuba Shack - Rocky Hill, CT Scuba Shack is one of the best dive shops in Connecticut, if not in all of New England. Pop in, meet with their top-notch instructors, buy some gear, and say hi to Tom.
SECONN Dive Club SECONN is a group of pretty enthusiastic divers who believe in giving something back. You can usually find some sort of dive through their mailing lists, and there are always group events going on. Also, SECONN is involved with several environmental initiatives, including the "Save our Bays" initative to transplant eel grass to areas where it has been destroyed. Also, these are the folks who bring you the annual Frozen Fin dive on New Years' Day.... Mmmmm.... Chilly...
USGS Costal & Marine Geology Infobank - Connecticut Not the most intuative interface out there, but there is some information that is useful for scuba diving in Connecticut on this site. Your tax dollars hard at work.
Massachusetts Scuba Diving Links
Massachusetts Board of Underwater Archaeological Resources Established in 1973, the Massachusetts Board of Underwater Archaeological Resources (BUAR) is the sole trustee of the Commonwealth's underwater heritage, promoting and protecting the public's interests in these resources for recreational, economic, environmental, and historical purposes. Formal description aside, this site contains some information on wrecks and wreck diving that anyone considering diving any of their listed wrecks will find useful.
New Jersey Scuba Diving Links
New Jersey Scuba Diver NJScuba.net contains expansive information on wrecks in the New Jersey / New York / Long Island / Connecticut / Rhode Island Waters. The site has great photos, history, articles, and even has a marine life identification section. Definitely worth a look.

Lake Champlain Maritime Museum Maritime Research Insititute The Maritime Research Institute is the research arm of the Lake Champlain Maritime Museum. Formed in 2000, the Maritime Research Institute is a reflection of Lake Champlain Maritime Museum's role in regional, national, and even international archaeological research and policymaking as it relates to underwater cultural heritage. It permits their talented team of archaeologists, conservators, and historians to conduct high-quality research, and allows them to better connect the public with the priceless cultural resources that lie underwater.

Other Scuba Diving Links
Divers Alert Network Divers Alert Network (DAN) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit medical and research organization dedicated to the safety and health of recreational scuba divers and associated with Duke University Medical Center.

DAN offers a lot of resources to divers, and offers some all-important dive insurance which covers things such as trip protection, gear loss, and injuries sustained while diving.
Hunting New England Shipwrecks Wreckhunter.net is a self-proclaimed "web guide for divers and armchair adventurers." The site contains historical backgrounds, pictures and other information on some of New England's most well-known shipwrecks. It also provides maps and charts of the area, and detailed information on locating and diving on wrecks.
National Park Service Submerged Resources Center In 1980, the Submerged Cultural Resources Unit (known as SCRU) was formed and staffed by underwater archeologists and photographers to provide the expertise required by managers of national parks with submerged lands.

Renamed the Submerged Resources Center in 1999 to include natural resources, the core mission of the program has remained the same: to inventory and evaluate submerged resources in the National Park System and to assist other agencies, nationally and internationally, with underwater heritage resource issues.
Rodale's Scuba Diving Magazine Rodale's Scuba Diving Magazine offers excellent information on gear, travel destinations, safety, and divers' perspectives on various diving-related concepts.
